About me…

Mrs Marion Borland

Head Teacher

Child Protection

What an absolute pleasure it is for me to work with the fabulous teaching team and children of Mangotsfield C of E Primary. The passion and enthusiasm from staff and children to live up to our school motto of “Working together to be even better today than we were yesterday.” means that there is not a single day passes where we have not reflected on our practice and worked on making our school even better. Long may this continue!

I'm looking forward to my second year as Deputy Head here at Mangotsfield- we have another really exciting year ahead of us! One of the best parts of my job has to be getting to see faces from all across the school on a daily basis. My interests outside school are mainly sporting. In particular, I attempt to still swim competitively and train with my local club. I also enjoy getting out and about on my road bike and watching football as well as spending time with friends and family.

Miss Sian Kinder

Assistant Head Teacher

 Head of NEXUS Teaching school

 Pupil Premium Champion

In my role as Head of the Teaching School, I am working with Mangotsfield and the other six schools in the NEXUS Teaching School Alliance to improve educational outcomes for all children across the local area and to share our fantastic practice. I’m also delighted to be part of the Year 6 team again as I still really enjoy teaching, making a difference and trying to entertain the children with my jokes! Out of school you’ll find me off in the great outdoors, watching England play cricket or going travelling to far flung places!

I am very excited to be working in Year 1 at Mangotsfield, having taught at Lyde Green school this year with Miss Nicholls. This will be my fourth year of teaching, having worked in schools both in Bristol and abroad. When I’m not at school, you may see me walking in the countryside, doing yoga or salsa dancing. I have a love for languages and I am also a Forest School Leader in my spare time, which keeps me busy! I am really looking forward to my year ahead at Mangotsfield and all of the exciting learning that will take place.

I’m back! For those that don’t already know me, I’m Emily Strover and am returning to work part time after having my second little boy in January. I have been teaching throughout the Infants at Mangotsfield for 12 years and I’m really excited to be teaching Year 2 again. When I am not at school, I am generally changing nappies and picking dirty washing up off the floor. However, I do manage to find a small bit of time for shoe shopping and lunching with friends!

Hello! I’ve had a wonderful first year and Mangotsfield and am so excited to be moving down to Year 2 in September to be part of the KS1 team! The children and adults I work with know me for my friendly smile and love of maths! When I am not working, I love travelling in the school holidays with my family and friends and enjoy bringing what I have learned from around the world into my classroom. I am very pleased to be in Year 3 for the forthcoming year! This is an exciting opportunity to challenge the children in a new year group. Outside of school, I love playing and watching rugby. Miss Hannah Edwards

D&T

I have greatly enjoyed my first year here at Mangotsfield and am excited to see what my second year will bring! We have lots of fantastic topics in Year 4 so it is great to be able to share these with another wonderful class! When I am not in school, you will usually find me either drinking tea and chatting with friends, or out running and enjoying the countryside! During the holidays, I love to travel and experience different cultures and particularly love being able to share these experiences back in the classroom.

Mrs Lucy Bibby

Music

This is my second year teaching in Year 4 and I am very much looking forward to getting stuck into our fab topics with my new class. Outside school, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my husband play cricket and decorating our house. I am also a keen Northampton Saints supporter and enjoy friendly rivalry with the Bristol and Bath Rugby supporters around school! The highlight of my week is choir practice. I sing in a fantastic community choir called Riff Raff and I love it.

SENCo – Teaching and learning support

As well as being a class teacher, I enjoy being SENCo as this means I get to see lots of children across the school. This year, I am teaching in Year 5 and I am really looking forward to moving up into Key Stage 2!  I run the girls football team and I want to inspire as many girls as possible to put on a pair of boot and get into the sport.  A few things that I enjoy are: being creative - especially art and craft, playing sport - in particular football and running my lovely working cocker spaniel, called Charley, in agility competitions for which I hope to get into the England squad!

Mr Daniel Murphy

(Yr 6)

Computing & E-Safety

I am delighted to be teaching in year 6 again for the third year! I am particularly excited to be part of all of the exciting events year 6 get to take part in such as the residential trip. As computing lead, I am keen to develop the digital leaders in providing support around the school. Outside school, I love all things sporty, especially cycling. I am also kept very busy with my young family!

Maths

After another great year at Mangotsfield and I'm really pleased to be teaching Year 6 again in September alongside Miss Kinder, Mr Murphy and Mr Filer. We make a great team! As well as teaching in Year 6, I am also Maths Leader and therefore the driving force behind our inspiring, engaging and challenging maths curriculum. As an NCETM Maths Specialist, I work very closely with the Boolean Maths Hub to develop maths teaching and learning in our school and others locally and this has led to many exciting opportunities for our school. Outside of school, when I'm not busy socialising with friends and family, I like to stay active and spend a lot of my free time at the gym, cycling or running with Bitton Road Runners.

Mr Matt Filer

(Yr 6)

P.E.

Y5/6 Leader

I love the fun and the challenge of Year 6 and I’ll work hard to inspire our fantastic pupils to even higher heights.  As PE leader, I enjoy working with all of our great children throughout the school and encouraging all our pupils to take part in school sports.  Outside school, I practise my terrible jokes on my three lovely children and I love playing the piano and the guitar.  Mrs Filer is kind enough to occasionally let me to watch Wales and Arsenal play rugby and football and allows me to pretend that I collect football stickers for our kids when really they are all mine!

Mrs Tracey Moorhouse

PPA Teacher

I am thrilled to be teaching a new curriculum across the school. I am 100% dedicated to making RE interesting, inspiring and thought provoking, helping children to make sense of the diverse, complex and often challenging world we experience. Outside school I 'spin' with passion, begrudgingly care for two elderly and increasingly idiosyncratic cats and enjoy sharing books, art, cinema, travel, shopping and cafe culture with my two daughters.

Mrs Kathryn Harris

Specialist Music teacher

I am delighted to have joined the Mangotsfield family, teaching my favourite subject in the whole world! I believe that learning about music can also help children develop skills of listening, teamwork and creativity and I am keen to share my passion with anyone who will listen!  Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young children, reading, gardening and of course singing and enjoying music in all its forms.

Mrs Rachael Parker

Specialist Science teacher

I am very excited to be joining the Mangotsfield team, teaching scince in Year 6.

Mr Matt Jeanes

Specialist Art teacher

This is my first year teaching Art to Year 6 at Mangotsfield Primary School. I am thrilled to have been so warmly welcomed into the team. Having had a full career in Art working with Disney and Hallmark (among many others) it’s a pleasure to pass my knowledge onto others (and follow in my family tradition- my grandmother was a primary teacher and my father was a head of Art!!). I teach at various primary schools in the area as well as teaching Life classes and art for adults. In my spare time I paint, I also direct and design shows as well as write for various Art magazines.

Mr Spencer Davies

P.E. Coach

Hi there! I am Spencer Davies and I am fortunate enough to work with all of the Key Stage Two classes at Mangotsfield. I teach all of the outdoor sports when the usual class teachers have their planning time out of class. I enjoy all sports and love being able to share my passion with the children!

Mr Steve Howson

P.E. Coach

I am pleased to be joining the team at Mangotsfield Primary School where I will be teaching sport to children across the school.

Mrs Sally Sibley

Community Link Worker

Hi! I am Sally! I am employed by the Diocese of Bristol to offer support to staff, parents, children and young people. I am usually in school every Tuesday but I am happy to arrange a meeting on a day to suit you. I am available for advice, support or just a chat! When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking, reading and listening to music.

Mr Dave Mallett

Care Taker

I am thoroughly enjoying my new position as caretaker and I am very busy already! I enjoy making a difference to the school and hope that the children will benefit from having a safe and secure school environment.

Mr Derek Boxell

Security Caretaker

I am the person you rarely see as I open and close the school each day! Retired from the Royal Air Force, I volunteer for the National
Trust and the RAF Association in my spare time and enjoy hiking and taking foreign holidays.
