Stourhead
On 14th July, Year 5 went on a trip to Stourhead (a National Trust property) in Wiltshire to learna a little more about Ancient Greece. How can you learn about Ancient Greece from some gardens? I hear you ask! Well, the man who built Stouhead was VERY rich and wanted to show everyone how important he was. At the time, many people admired Ancient Greece and Rome, so he built Stourhead using ideas from Greek architecture. Find out more below:

When we arrived, one group spent some time in the Learning Centre, investigating some Greek artefacts, completing some Greek mazes and puzzles and making magnetic temples.

We walked to the main house and sketched some of the features that we found interesting.

We went on a long walk around the lake, stopping to look at and sketch the replica Greek temples. In the first picture, you can the Pantheon across the lake. Lots of us thought the views were really beautiful!
We had a great day and were very lucky that the sun shone for us!
