British Values at Mangotsfield
Lord Nash, at the launch of the government’s guidance on promoting British Values (Nov 2014), said:
‘A key part of our plan for education is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background. We want every school to promote the basic British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs. This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.’
At Mangotsfield Church of England Primary School, we teach British Values through a combination of their integration into our school values, through our Christian distinctiveness and through the subjects in our curriculum which have explicitly linked British Values embedded within them. We are committed to creating an orderly society, where individual members can feel safe, valued and can contribute for the good of themselves and others.
